2016 Easter Egg Order Forms Available

Attention Chesapeake & Hampton Roads Residents:

Many of you may not be aware of the Treasurer’s Community Fund Organization, a non-profit organization created by Barbara Carraway, City Treasurer, to help those living in our community who are in need during the Christmas holiday. One project they take on every Christmas, is to provide a wonderful experience to children who otherwise might wake up to nothing on Christmas morning. This past Christmas, they were able to help 10 families by providing food, clothing, school supplies, toys, and even Christmas decorations. In one instance, they even helped the family with their public utilities bill. This is truly a wonderful organization.

Each year, the Chesapeake's Treasurer’s Office holds its annual Easter Egg project, a fundraiser for the Treasurer’s Community Fund. Each egg is individually shaped, dipped and decorated. Eggs will be ready for pickup beginning on Monday, March 21st. Order forms are available at the following locations:

  • 306 Cedar Road, 23322
  • 824 Old George Washington Hwy North, 23323
  • 1205 20th Street, 23324
  • 2808 Taylor Road, 23321
Large egg flavors are: Butter Créme, Cherry Nut, Coconut, and Peanut Butter.

Small egg flavors are: Butter Créme, Cherry Nut, Coconut, Peanut Butter, Maple Nut, and Orange.

Large eggs are $6 (a 1/2 lb of decadence) and can be personalized with a name or "Happy Easter" message.
It is $8 for an entire dozen of smaller, bite-sized eggs. For small eggs, you may designate the number you would like of each flavor (Ex. 2-Butter Crème, 6-Coconut, and 4-Orange = 1 dozen eggs) or choose to live dangerously and opt for a random assortment.

Remember, all proceeds benefit the Treasurer's Community Fund, helping disadvantaged families right here in our Chesapeake community! Help us help them (and enjoy yummy Easter treats for it). If you’re interested in purchasing Easter eggs, or in volunteering or donating to the program, please call 757-382-6764 or email bcarrawa@cityofchesapeake.net

The 2016 order form is available here until Wednesday, March 16th, last day for placing orders.

"The Chesapeake Jewel" Dedication Ceremony

On Tuesday, September 16th, The City Symbol Committee held a Dedication Ceremony in honor of the City's newest Blue Heron Statue located in City Hall. Here are a few pictures to share from the event.

This is "The Chesapeake Jewel." It was decorated by the Peninsula Glass Guild. Each glass piece was carefully sculpted especially for this exquisite project.

We had a small crowd attend, including the Honorable Alan Krasnoff, City Mayor, a few other members of City Council, and James Baker, City Manager.

The Clipper in the Virginia Pilot even featured a lovely article about "The Chesapeake Jewel!" The digital article can be read here on www.HamptonRoads.com.
